Born under the winter sky, this litter embodies magic and mystery. In their honor, we are thrilled to announce they will be our Aurora Borealis Litter. Over the coming weeks, as their colors and personalities shine through, we will give each kitten a name inspired by the northern lights — from the myths that surround them to the dazzling colors they paint across the heavens. Spectrum of Color

Week 1 Log
True to their celestial namesake, this litter has painted our nursery with a breathtaking palette. We are thrilled to see:
- Three vibrant Red kittens, blazing like the most intense bands of the aurora.
- One soft Cream kitten, a luminous wisp of cloud.
- One serene Blue kitten, the color of a deep, mystical night sky.
- One stunning Black Tortoiseshell kitten, a perfect mosaic of storm and ember, just like her magnificent mother.
Their colors are a beautiful testament to their extraordinary lineage. They are the living art of their parents: Garnet, our sweet tortoiseshell queen whose every hue is matched by her golden heart, and Sorbus, their gentle red giant of a father.
Our First Priority: Peace & Bonding
The first 24 hours are sacred. Our primary role is to ensure Garnet feels secure and the newborn kittens have uninterrupted access to their vital first meals and their mother’s warmth. To minimize any disturbance during this critical bonding time, we allow for a period of quiet rest before beginning our routine health checks.
✨ Our Magnificent Queen: Garnet
Our majestic queen, Garnet, has done it again with the grace and surety that defines her. In the final days of gestation, her impressive size was a testament to the vibrant life within her. Ever the creature of wise habit, she politely ignored the cozy new birthing cabin we offered, opting instead for her trusted, familiar spot in the nursery — a sacred space where she feels most secure. Her instincts were, as always, flawless. The delivery was smooth, and she handled every moment with serene focus.
Mere moments after the last kitten arrived, the photo here captures her: tired, triumphant, and already the picture of devoted motherhood, with her tail still damp from the birthing waters. She is now settled, purring contentedly, and tending to her precious brood with the same innate kindness that makes her the heart of our cattery.

The nursery is a picture of peaceful harmony. Garnet is the epitome of a devoted mother, nursing and grooming her brood with quiet intensity, while the kittens focus on their vital first job: eating and sleeping.
Mom’s Corner
Garnet is relaxed and confident. She’s enjoying her nutrient-rich meals and plenty of fresh water, fueling the milk bar that’s working so perfectly. She spends most of her time curled protectively around her babies, only leaving briefly for necessities.
First Official Weights – Day 2 Baseline
Now that the family is settled, we’ve completed our first official weigh-in to establish a healthy baseline. We are thrilled to report all kittens are nursing well and have strong, vigorous latches. Their starting weights are:

The rhythm of the nursery is now firmly established — a cycle of gentle nursing, deep sleep, and attentive grooming led by the ever-present Garnet. The peace is palpable.

Breeder’s Vigilance:
We monitor our neonates around the clock through observation, not just scales. While our cream kitten’s weight is slightly down today, our physical checks show a strong nursing reflex and a adequately full belly after feedings. We are therefore taking a watchful, supportive approach—ensuring ideal nest temperature and assisting with latch positioning as needed—before any intervention. Garnet is providing excellent care, and we are confident in this kitten’s vitality. We will, of course, update immediately if our protocol escalates.
Developmental Watch:
- Umbilical Cords: Are drying nicely and should detach naturally soon.
- Activity Level: We’re noting subtle differences in wiggle-power during weigh-ins and repositioning. The first hints of personality are in the squirm!
- Vocalization: Some are developing distinctly louder “mews” than their siblings when they root around.
Mom’s Corner:
Garnet is a model of efficiency. She leaves the nest only briefly for her own needs, returning immediately to clean, feed, and settle her brood. Her appetite remains excellent, and she accepts her supplemental snacks with a grateful purr.

Our primary goal remains unwavering: supporting Garnet and ensuring a stress-free environment for this steady, healthy growth. So far, this litter is textbook perfect.

Update on Our Cream Kitten:
We are pleased to report a positive turnaround! With our supportive monitoring and Garnet’s diligent feeding, our cream kitten has shown a solid gain today, putting them back on a solid trajectory. This is the outcome we work for through attentive, non-invasive care.
Developmental Watch:
Umbilical Cords: Most cords are now dry and should begin detaching soon. The navels look clean and healthy.
Physical Changes: Kittens are becoming slightly more substantial in the hand. Their skin is less translucent as they fill out.
Movement: Increased wiggling and gentle pushing with hind legs during nursing is a sign of growing strength.
Mom’s Corner:
Garnet remains the serene center of this universe. She is eating and drinking heartily to sustain her milk production. She now often greets us with a soft trill when we approach for checks, a sign of deep trust.
Breeder’s Reflection:
Day 4 reaffirms that growth is not always a straight line, but a path guided by vigilant observation and respect for nature’s process. We are exactly where we hope to be.

Week 1 Log
Even with a bit of travel these past days, the nursery remains my true north. I stole moments to check in this morning, and again just now tonight — and this evening’s visit was pure peace.
I found Garnet stretched gracefully across the top of her nursery cabin, keeping watch from above.
When I carefully pulled out the kitten basket, the scene inside was nothing short of idyllic. Instead of one tightly wound bundle, each little one slept independently — spread out like tiny, contented stars, their bellies perfectly round and their breathing soft and even. It was so serene, so perfectly cozy, that I didn’t dare disturb them with a camera. Sleep well, little stars. 🌟

Her protectiveness is a beautiful thing to witness — so much so that during weigh-ins, she often leaps into the basket as if to say, “That’s quite enough, thank you!” Her devotion is the foundation of their well-being, and she continues to eat, drink, and care for them with unwavering commitment.

- Quiet Confidence: They are becoming more settled and quiet during handling, a sign of growing security and robustness.
- Physical Changes: Their legs are strengthening, and their movements, while still wobbly, are becoming more purposeful.
- Eyes & Ears: We are on Eyes Watch! Kittens typically start peeking between days 7-10. Their ears are beginning to slowly unfold from their newborn flatness.
