Eco-Friendly Mulberry Silk Bourette Yarn from Japan
Silk bourette yarn is made from silk fibers gathered after the silk worms mature and leave their cocoons. No silk worms or moths are harmed in any way. The selected mulberry silk cocoons are washed and dried naturally. Clean and dry silk fibers are combed with great care in preparation for spinning.
Raw mulberry silk undergoes spinning and plying twice forming a 4-ply very soft and strong cabled yarn. In cabled yarn, single strands are 2-ply and then, two two-ply yarns are plied together again giving the yarn a better strength and a unique texture.
