In contrast, the Maine Coon’s predecessor, the Siberian — often recommended as a hypoallergenic breed — is reported to produce lower-than-average levels of Fel d 1, making it a better choice for those with significant sensitivities. The Maine Coon, on the other hand, produces levels typical for a cat, and with the added stud tail factor, intact males may produce even more.
